The Johor Crown Princes has his critics, as would anyone who is as popular as he is. However one main thing that sets him apart is how he responses to it. In the past, he has used short videos as a way to “get back” at his haters. For example, this short video he posted mid last year where he made a beckoning hand gesture as if to say “bring it” to Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
And now he has done it again with another short video in response to critics who lambaste him for a hand greeting with the wife of Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT) captain Safiq Rahim.
The picture of the handshake, which happened at a newly launched café, started circulating online and gathered some negative feedback from netizens. Due to all the negativity, some people have even suggested for the admin of the Facebook page to remove the said picture to as to avoid more controversy and debate.
In response to this, TMJ released a statement on the Facebook page saying that only God can judge him for his actions, instead of people on Facebook who are trying to be a state mufti (a Muslim or Islamic scholar who is an expounder of Islamic law).
In his long statement, he went on to say that “too many are trying to be smarter than the Quraan” and that although he is not an expert in Islam, he believes that God will bless those who have a good heart, is kind, honest, helps and respects others.
Few hours later, a video was uploaded to accompany that statement. The short video showed him putting on a large green Hulk-like glove before shaking the hand of a woman.
The video gathered mostly positive responses from netizens, except for the top comment in particular which states that people shouldn’t underestimate the punishment from God and that they should accept the godly command regarding no contact between men and women. The comment, however, did end on a positive note, reaffirming the love that the Johorians have for TMJ.

I guess sometimes you can just never win—even with Marvel superhero gloves.
