Samsung’s S6 And S6 Edge Take The Hammer Test — And Succeed

You might remember when, more than two months ago, OPPO released videos of its phone, the R5, hammering nails through wood and breaking blocks of ice.

It seems Samsung smartphones are not too shabby either, because two weeks ago, a video of Samsung’s S6 and S6 Edge phones was released. In it, the phones were used as both chopping board and hammer/nutcracker, with the person in the video using them to break apart the shells of multiple walnuts.

The video, titled “‪Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge hammer test‬”, was not released by Samsung itself, and the experiment seems to have been carried out independently. Despite garnering a rather modest 56,000 views on YouTube, the video has gotten a lot more attention on Facebook, where it has been viewed over 5 million times.

The majority of comments from netizens seem to compare the S6 with Apple’s iPhones, with some proclaiming the superiority of the Samsung handset:

The fact that these videos often do nothing to show off the specs of a handset is a point that many netizens have not failed to pick up upon. That said, with similar videos that attempt to put smartphones through extreme conditions being such hits among netizens, it’s clear that we’ll not be getting sick of watching phones being dropped from alarming heights anytime soon:
