Sick of slow Internet speed? Come to Asia!

According to the latest research from global technology firm Akamai Technologies, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Singapore had the speediest broadband connection in the world. Taiwan ranked number 8 in terms of internet speed, which was determined by looking at traffic flowing through Akamai’s global network from July through September 2013.

Nearly all of the major Asia-Pacific markets tracked by Akamai improved their peak connection speeds by at least 12 percent compared with the previous year. Indonesia was the only one that dropped — a 30 percent decrease year-over-year to 9.7 megabits per second, putting the country at 115th on the list.

Here’s the list of the top 10 places to find the world’s fastest Internet based on Akamai’s findings:

1. Hong Kong - an average peak speed of 65.4 megabits per second

12 Megabits is also equals to 1.5 megabytes. So for the case of Hong Kong, which has the highest average peak speed of 65.4 megabits per second, it has an average of 8.175 megabytes download per second.

So the next time you complain about the slow internet speed, you should move to Asia, if you are not already here.
